June 2015

Summer is now upon us. We have certainly been feeling the increase in temperature as June began. Fortunately our neighborhood pool opened, so we have been taking frequent trips to cool off. Cordelia is getting a lot more comfortable in the water and has a fun time in the little kid pool. We picked up swim class again after taking the month of May off. We have been doing Saturday swim class so that Tim can join in and do the class with Corrie.

We are happy to announce this month that we are pregnant with our 2nd baby and expecting our new arrival at the end of January. We were grateful to have Kelly visit for a few days in June. Cordelia had a great time with her Aunt. We are looking forward to our trip down to Carlsbad for 4th of July, where Alicia and Cordelia will be staying for 12 days.

Cordelia is starting to develop her talking skills. In addition to Dada, dog, and ball, she also says hi, bye-bye, yes, and no; although it seems like her favorite thing to say is “uh-oh.” She also likes to dance when music is playing or we are playing drums. Her personality is certainly starting to develop. She tends to be orderly and likes putting things away, like Alicia. She also gets frustrated easily when she can’t do something or her desire is thwarted. But she can be a very good listener and wants to please.

Tim is doing well at his job. There has been an increased  push to deliver the product after an on-site customer demo. There is another demo coming up in July which will hopefully go well. Unfortunately the atmosphere at Tim’s company has been somber since they just had a company wide layoff at the end of June. While Tim continues to be employed it is a difficult time with people leaving.

Alicia is missing the moms’ groups that are all taking a summer break. She finds it challenging to come up with creative ways to stay occupied and stay social. It is easy to get stuck in a rut staying at home rather than getting out, especially with first trimester sickness and tiredness. While Alicia has had a few moms/kids over to play it is difficult to maintain a solid conversation while keeping track of kids.

Please pray for safe travels to Carlsbad and a good trip down there. Please pray for Tim’s work that there would be peace in the midst of this turmoil. Please pray for wisdom for us as a family to find other families to connect with. Also pray for opportunities for Alicia to get out of the house and re-focus on how she should be using her time and abilities.

We are thankful for your love and support.
