July 2015

We have been having lots of fun this month with the 4th of July celebration, visiting San Diego. Alicia also made more of an effort to connect with other moms and get out of the house. Exiting the first-trimester of pregnancy has also helped; although running after Cordelia when not pregnant is tiring all by itself, as Tim found out during some Daddy-Daughter play outings.

Cordelia is becoming more interactive and engaging. She enjoys having music on and dancing around the room. Her dancing involves bouncing up and down, clapping, spinning, running into the couches to face-plant on the cushions, and throwing herself into Mommy or Daddy’s arms. She is more responsive in expressing her desires and will answer yes/no questions, though not always the correct response. She is still very social and loves the opportunities to play with other kids.

We enjoyed a trip to San Diego for 4th of July at the beginning of the month. We celebrated with Grandpa Powers, Uncle Mark, Aunt Nicole, and Cousin Cephas. Unfortunately Tim could only stay for the weekend and went back up to San Jose for work. Alicia stayed down for a week and half to keep her dad company while her mom was vacationing in Ireland.

While in San Diego Alicia was able to connect with her high school friend and visit with some other family friends. Cordelia’s Great-Grandparents (Powers) came down for a visit one day. Alicia and Cordelia enjoyed a trip to LEGOLAND with Grandpa.

Back in San Jose, Alicia arranged three play dates. She is also helping out at church with a life group planning committee, which organizes all the of church’s life groups that will be starting in September.

While Alicia was in San Diego, Tim worked some long hours at work supporting a customer on-site demo. Tim also did some great work around the house, finishing the attic, updating some floor thresholds, and making a new bed frame for the master bedroom. Tim’s job continues to be high profile with lots of people looking to him for information and guidance. While this is stressful it can also be very rewarding. Tim received his yearly review in which he got outstanding performance recognition with an emphasis on how critical he is to the product’s success. His boss thinks Tim is well on his way to becoming a team leader and technical subject matter expert.

We are thankful for good health and the increased enjoyment of spending time together as a family. We are appreciative of our family and friends who continue to support us. We pray that we will continue to connect with people up in San Jose and start to feel established in where God has placed us.
