We have stayed pretty active this month. Tim has worked night shift (3pm-midnight) for the past three weeks so we have been having family time during the day. It has been nice to go out as a family to the various parks. It has been more draining for Alicia doing the evening and night routine with Cordelia and on Tim not getting home and to sleep before 1am most days. So while we have enjoyed the day family time, we are looking forward to things going back to quotnormalquot next week.
Dad and Mom Russin came to visit for a week and take advantage of Tim being around during the day. We got to show them lots of fun places in San Jose. Cordelia had a fun time visiting with them and we look forward to seeing them again over Thanksgiving. Dad and Mom Powers also stopped by for a short one day visit.
Cordelia is really working on her speech development this month. He vocabulary seems to expand weekly. She still uses some of her signs in conjunction with new words. She transitioned from 2 naps to 1 nap, which still takes some getting used to. She also transitioned off her pacifier this month and has gotten used to sleeping without it.
Alicia celebrated her birthday this month. She was thankful to be surrounded by family on her birthday and is grateful for all the people who thought of her and sent their birthday wishes. Alicia is eagerly waiting for September to arrive for the Mom’s group to start back up. She has been helping out at church with the Life Group planning for the Fall. In the Fall she will be helping with the Mom’s group.
Tim has been taking on more responsibility at work with supporting the demo. He also is keeping up on his regular daily tasks, which makes things a bit tricky. Through it all he continues to show his skills and remains a respected and valuable contributor.
House life got a bit interesting this month with a break-in. The thieves took Alicia’s wallet and Tim’s keys. So we re-keyed the house and are getting the cars re-keyed as well. Thankfully we were all safe. Since then we have been very diligent about locking the house up at night and reinstated our video monitoring system. While Tim’s dad was here they did some organization in the garage, optimizing our storage space and reorganizing the tools.
We are preparing to move Cordelia into her “big girl” bed in mid-September. So we are working on getting the room all set up for her transition. Tim installed a ceiling fan in the room from a half-hot electrical socket. It is a great addition to the room, especially with the warmer weather we’ve been having.ย
We are thankful for our families and the opportunity we had to visit with our parents. Please pray that God would guide us in making connections with others. Pray that God would make it clear the path He has for us.
