February 2016

There have been so many changes this month it’s hard to know where to start. We are adjusting to a family of four, some days go smoother than others. Tim’s parents, Mimi and Papa, came for a visit and were a big help. They took Cordelia out to play and made lots of freezer meals for us so we did not have to worry about cooking for a while. On Feb 9th, two weeks after Anthony was born, the company in Napa folded and laid of 75% of their employees. Tim immediately was on the job hunt and, in short, Tim is going back to his old job in San Jose working for KLA-Tencor. So… we’re moving Again! Our house in San Jose is rented out through October, so we had to find a rental in the area. We found a townhouse in Milpitas and will be moving in the first weekend of March. Unfortunately, given the size of house and the aggressive rental market we had to re-home our dog, Gypsy. We took her down to a lady in Santa Cruz who has a lovely house and can give Gypsy a fresh start. Cordelia has been missing Gypsy since then and asks about her when we see other dogs. We spend the weekend exploring the forest in the mountains above Santa Cruz. Other sad part about the job loss and move is that we will no longer have our nanny, Julie, helping us out. We are very sad to part ways with her and we know Cordelia will miss her.

One of the benefits to Tim’s job folding is that he has been home to enjoy and help out with Anthony and Cordelia. Tim starts back at KLA-Tencor on March 14th, so he will have been around for the first month and half since Anthony’s been born. While we have enjoyed the family time together, Tim is ready to get back into the work force. He is looking forward to going back to his old job where he is familiar with the people and the job. His old boss is very eager to have Tim back.

Cordelia continues to enjoy Anthony. She likes holding him and giving him hugs and kisses. However; overall she has been more emotionally frail lately. Not sure if it’s due to Anthony’s arrival, her sensing the imminent change, teething, or just her expressing her opinions and desires. She is becoming much more independent. Frequently when we ask if she wants help she responds with quotself.quot The down side is when things do not go her way she melts down. We are doing our best to help her work through her emotional disappointments and we know she’ll learn how to cope.

Anthony has been pretty easy and mellow, for which we are very grateful in this tumultuous time. He is a great eater and is not fussy. He is doing pretty well at sleeping, although our trip to Santa Cruz messed up his night time sleep pretty badly. He is growing strong and has some great tummy time.

Alicia has been adjusting to a mother of two. Given all the company and then with Tim home, the whole impact of taking care of two at once has not really happened yet. Now that we are moving back to San Jose, Alicia will reconnect with the moms’ groups she was involved with down there. There is a lot to do and time always seems too limited.

This coming month we are looking forward to celebrating Corrie’s 2nd birthday. Alicia’s parents and sister will be coming up to help celebrate and meet Anthony.

Please pray that our move goes smoothly and our transition back to San Jose is easy. Pray that Tim and Alicia are able have some quality time together in the midst of new baby and move. We are thankful for all the love and support we have received.
