More fun and excitement this month. Aunt Kelly was still visiting at the beginning of the month. Tim and Alicia celebrated their 5th anniversary on April 16th. We finished off the month with a last minute trip to San Diego due to Tim having business travel to Korea. So Alicia and the kids are visiting with Grandparents Powers while Tim takes care of business on Korea.
Cordelia has been making lots of language developmental milestones this month. She is now consistently putting two to three words together and can say simple sentences. She likes reading books and has a really good memory. She can recite some of them to us! She continues to do great with Anthony. She is a very attentive sister and wants to help. Corrie is still working through her emotions and dealing with things not going how she wants. It takes patience as parents to help her work through it and not get annoyed but we are figuring it out.
Anthony is getting more plump this month, sporting a full double (or triple) chin. He has started grabbing at toys and can play a little bit by himself now. He still is very easy going. He’s a big talker and likes having people to look at and interact with. We are starting to progress towards dropping the swaddle. He has great nighttime sleep and is pretty smooth going down for naps too. We will see how that changes once he no longer has the comfort of his swaddle.
Tim’s work has kept him very busy, as evidence by the trip to Korea. He is highly respected among his coworkers and supervisors. The new house location has been great for biking to work and is usually just as fast as driving. We continue to take advantage of renting by spending more family time on the weekends rather than doing house fix-up. One weekend we went to a bounce house where Corrie and Tim had a great time jumping around. During his trip to Korea he has been able to keep the tool progressing on the installation schedule and resolving various issues that have come up during the process. Tim was able to do a bit of sight-seeing on a few days. Korea is very crowded which makes it a challenge to get places, but they do have fairly good mass transit. While it has been beneficial for the company to have Tim in Korea Tim misses Alicia and the kids and is anxious to return. Especially since he will be going back to Korea in May for another 2 weeks to support other tools installed there.
Alicia is getting reconnected with the moms’ groups. She went back to the MOPS group she was a part of last year and was happy to see familiar faces. She is still trying to connect with more moms and have regular play dates during the weeks. Having two kids makes home life more exciting. It has become much more challenging to find time to fit in all the to-dos. Nap time has shrunk down to an little over an hour window, just long enough to work out and shower or vacuum the house. Alicia finds it challenging to feel like she is giving both kids sufficient attention. It often feels like the day is segregated into focused time with each kid individually while the other kid is left to play alone for periods of time. It has been good to have the extra help being at the Grandparents during the end of April; however, Alicia is looking forward to having Tim back.
We were thankful to have a few hours for dates during this month, especially around our anniversary. We are still trying to get a longer list of baby sitters, but we have made a few connections. We are also trying to connect with other families. This has become more of a challenge due to the recent and upcoming travel. This next month we hope to go on a few family hikes and maybe connect with other families that way.
Please pray that we will be able to stay connected as a family during this next month with the business travel. We are grateful for the support of family and the ability to Alicia to have help with the kids while Tim is away. Pray that we will be able to connect with other families in the bay area and start forming some friendships there.
