April 2017

This month, we enjoyed a visit from Aunt Kelly during her spring break week. Change seems to be in the air as we exit April. As the weather is turning more sunny and group activities have been slowing down, it seems everything is looking towards June and the beginning of summer. Of course there is a whole month of May to go through first and we do have some activities planned. We started off the month with having our house listed on the market and at the end of the month we are no longer home owners. We were very amazed and blessed at the speed of the transaction and the final closing of the house. We could see God’s hand smoothly bringing everything to a close. We now feel light and free, no longer under the burden in our minds of what to do with the house and what will need to be fixed next. Of course where we live has it’s own challenges but we do not feel so trapped as before.

Cordelia continues enjoying her bike and riding around in the alleyway is an almost daily occurrence. She is getting very confident and can ride fairly fast. But she has also learned where the brakes are, which is very good. She was able to ride 1/2 mile to a park, which involved crossing a larger intersection, on a weekend when Tim was able to help and be right beside her. She enjoys coloring and writing. We are working with her on sounding out letters to begin her reading skills. She knows a fair amount of them but is still working on putting the individual sounds together to say a whole word.

Anthony got his first hair cut at the beginning of the month. We realized we probably should have watched some tutorials before hacking his hair into jagged layers, oops. Anthony is enjoying having teeth, all be it just two on the top. He is able to bite/tear food easier now. While lacking in diction and clarity he actually has a large amount of words. Under the right circumstances, we can parse what he’s saying. While he is mostly easy going and does not require a lot of supervision, he has begun protesting and testing boundaries. Alicia has had to run after him on several occasions when she tells him to come and he turns around quotrunningquot in the opposite direction. Also when he has something he should not (or took from Corrie) he will scream quotminequot and stomp his feet when it is forcibly removed from his grasp. So it appears that we are entering into the instruction and discipline age.

Tim and Alicia celebrated 6 years of marriage this month. We were grateful to have Aunt Kelly visit, which allowed us to go out for a nice dinner. In June we will be taking a larger anniversary trip.

Alicia continues to manage the day-to-day at home activities. Her creativity is constantly being stretched trying to think of places and activities for the kids during the week. She is still involved with the MOPS group and her role as table leader and new member outreach. She hopes they will finish off the year well with the final meetings in May. At the end of April the Tuesday morning bible study finished, Alicia is sad to have that going away as a break in her day. A Thursday evening bible study is just starting as the Tuesday one finished, so Alicia is still keeping up with her study.

Tim’s work has been in a bit of a ditch lately. While he is still completing his tasks, the tasks in themselves do not seem to be supporting progression on the project as much as he’d like. On the plus side, he is not on any critical items, which means his work days have not been as long so he is able to be home earlier.

To finish the month (and begin May) we went to Monterey for a family weekend of fun. Tim had a work conference down there Monday – Wednesday, so we spent some time enjoying a different area. Hence, the delayed update, but more pictures ๐Ÿ™‚

Please pray for us in the coming month that God will give us clarity and favor in the next stage of our lives – post home ownership. Pray for family unity and encouragement. We are thankful for God’s overwhelming blessings and provisions for us. Thank you for your support and encouragement.
