June 2017

Lots of exciting events this month. We started out the month with a post-anniversary trip to Colorado (via San Diego to drop the kids off with Grandpa and Grandma). On June 12th Alicia received an official job offer from the company in San Diego, so we are officially moving! The rest of the month has involved various details and plans for our upcoming move and changes. At the end of the month Cordelia went back down to Carlsbad for a week of zoo camp. So Anthony had been an quotonly childquot for the past week.

Cordelia had a fun week with Grandma and Grandpa and the dogs. She enjoyed her first time doing Jr. driving school at LEGOLAND now that she is 3yrs old and did a great job. She told us when we got back from Colorado that she had not missed us, but she was happy we were back. Due to the warm weather in Milpitas, we enjoyed several trips to the community pool and Corrie is getting more confident in her swimming abilities. We also enjoyed several play dates, trying to connect with all her friends before we leave.  Alicia and Cordelia drove down to San Diego for her zoo camp. She is a great traveler and we had a fun trip down, making several stops on the way.

Anthony continues his vocabulary expansion. He surprises us often with the new words he picks up. He really enjoys playing with Corrie and often asks for quotsisterquot after nap time. He certainly has a strong quotboyquot gene. One of his favorite activities is running into Cordelia and knocking both her and himself over. Corrie is not always very appreciative of this quotgamequot but sometimes it turns into a fun game of chase. He continues his love of cars and books. One of his new words is quotitequot for Lighting McQueen. He also occasionally plays with balls, but not as much as books and cars. While meal time has its share of challenges, his increased vocabulary is making it a little easier. Tim had a father-son day while Alicia drove Corrie down. They had a great time together, visiting Happy Hollow and enjoying some special one-on-one time. For this last week without Cordelia, Alicia has been trying to do more focused activities with him (for example, a play date with friends his age and a mid-week swim class). While he misses his sister, it has been nice to spend more focused attention with him and appreciate more of his personality.

Tim and Alicia enjoyed their kid-free trip to Colorado. Many thanks to Grandparents Powers for watching the kids and giving us the opportunity. In Colorado we went back to many of the activities we did while on our honeymoon. We rode the Durango to Silverton train, visited the downtown of Pagosa Springs, went hiking, white water river rafting, and a painting night. It was an overall great time and we enjoyed it a lot.

Alicia is excited to have gotten the job offer in San Diego. She is really looking forward to being back in that area, close to family, and getting back into the work force. The events of the month have been a mixture of preparing for the move and work while continuing to connect with the friends up in San Jose and focus on the kids.

Tim snuck in a half-marathon in San Diego before we left for Colorado. He did fairly well, finishing under 2hrs, despite not having completed his full training due to a minor heel injury. The news of Alicia’s new job has colored Tim’s work since we’ve been back. While his company is allowing him to continue working remotely, there is uncertainty about what his remote role would entail. It remains to be seen how things will work out there.

We feel very blessed at God’s provision and timing, opening the door for us to return to San Diego. We know the whole thing was and continues to be God’s working in our lives. We continue to rest in him and his path as we head into this next month.

Please pray for a safe move and smooth transition. Tim will remain up in San Jose through the end of July, please pray we will be able to stay connected despite the distance. We are sad to leave the friends we have made up in Northern Ca but we are happy to reconnect with our Southern Ca friends and be able to spend more time with our families. Thank you all for your prayers and support.
