September 2017

We are starting to settle in to our new living arrangements this month. We have kept fairly busy on the weekends including a trip to the Wild Animal Park for a work event, the San Diego Zoo for Cousin Cephas’s birthday party, and a trip to Tucson to visit Uncle Danny’s family, Mimi, and Papa. We had a great visit in Tucson and appreciate being closer to both sides of the family. Cordelia and Anthony are doing a great job playing with their cousins and it’s nice to see them interacting more as they get older.
Corrie is having a great time at preschool. It’s fun to hear her singing the songs during the week and gives us a nice talking point for our dinner time. The library started their toddler/preschool programs back up, and Corrie has fun going to that too. We added swim lessons back into our schedule and went twice at the beginning of the month. Corrie is doing well and getting more comfortable with swimming. She also got to practice in Tucson; she was brave enough to put her face in the water and swim by herself.
Anthony got another tooth, a molar, so he’s up to 5 teeth now. He does well eating breakfast and lunch, but dinner seems to be difficult for him. He still has a limited selection of quotapprovedquot foods. But he really enjoys fruit and likes veggies ok too. He also enjoys the library and sings songs from there. He is doing well in swim class and moved from beginner to intermediate level, so he and Cordelia are in the same class now. He loves the water and is very happy for quotswim class.quot Anthony also got his first hair cut at a barber shop. He did OK. Not very happy at first but he was smiling at the end.
Alicia is now more than two months on the job and making some contributions.  She’s been the program manager for a collaborative project between GA and the University of San Diego, so she has had the chance to practice organizing all the personnel / budget / schedule / technical requirements.  It’s a challenge, but so far she is enjoying it.  She is also working on her other projects and growing in her role as an individual contributor.
Tim has completed his fourth week at his new job. Already he has made great contributions and added technical value to his team.  The work is similar to the type of work he’s done in the past, so it has been a relatively easy transition.  His coworkers seem like a good group, as well; the team seems like a very congenial group of people.  Tim and Alicia are carpooling together, which gives them a chance to spend some time together in the mornings and the evenings.
It has been nice being back together. There has been some tension and challenges as we figure out what our new normal is going to be.  Please pray for us as we continue to evaluate our living situation and decide what would be best for our family.
