We managed to fill up the shortest month of the year with lots of activities. At the beginning of the month we had been in our new house two weeks, with lots of unpacking and organizing yet to do. While we still have lots of outstanding items, it’s beginning to feel like a home and more like quotours.quot We went to Big Bear Lake for Mimi’s 60th birthday and managed to find a small patch of snow up off the side of the road for the kids and Mimi/Papa to play in. We enjoyed some local community events. At the end of the month Alicia and Cordelia took a special Mother-Daughter trip up to San Jose to visit for Corrie’s friend’s 4th birthday.
The pregnancy continues to go well. We had our major ultra-sound this month and everything looks healthy. It appears we will be having another girl, Corrie is very excited to be having a sister.
It has been an up-and-down month for Anthony. Some days he is very well behaved and pleasant to be around. Other days he is disagreeable and having bad behavior, like pushing his sister. He seems to be testing the cause and effect of various actions and seeing if things remain consistent. We are trying our best to instruct him and are still working through what are the most effective discipline techniques for him. Anthony did enjoy a weekend getaway / sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa’s house, and had a fun time. We’re going to try to give him some more quotindividualquot time in the upcoming months. Also, we’re hoping that he can make some friends in our new area.
Cordelia had some fun quotfirstsquot this month. During our time in the Big Bear she got to sleep on the top bunk in our cabin. She also got to take her first shower while up in San Jose in the hotel room. She enjoyed it so much she wants to switch to showers instead of baths. She also went to AWANA for the first time and tried out what the Cubbies is like. Corrie also had an up-and-down month. There were periods when she was very helpful and loving. Then she had a several day span with major melt downs at the end of every night before bed. We’re trying to help her learn how to handle her emotions and teach her to ask Jesus for help when she’s frustrated. There has been a lot of prayer for her and asking God to give us wisdom in how to handle her outbursts.
Alicia’s work has picked up this month. After a slow start back in January, February has not been slow at all. She got put on two new programs and her other two programs are requiring more attention too. Overall she is enjoying her work and expanding her skills and knowledge into new areas of engineering. Outside of work Alicia has been trying to make the most of family time. It was nice to have an extra holiday this month and spend some time in our new area. Alicia also had a fun time with Cordelia on our trip to San Jose. It was a great opportunity to spend some quality time together.
Tim’s work started out busy this month with another field test for his project. Things have been slowing down since then. He’s still getting to do some interesting work but not all days are filled with activity. Outside of work Tim has been building up his garage workshop. While it has a long ways to go he’s starting so get some usable space to build things. He built Anthony a stool for the bathroom and he’s getting ready to put a work bench together. Tim also put in a working weekend when Alicia, Corrie and Anthony were away to get Corrie’s new bedroom ready (painting, new closet, new switches and outlets).
As we enter the next month we are hoping to find a church home and a place where we can find a community of like-minded believers to start building friendships. We’re hoping to feel settled as we make new friends and get involved in more activities. To that end the unpacking and house organization continues. Tim may also have a quick work trip to do more testing.
We are so grateful for the many gifts that God has blessed us with. This month has been a month of seeing his provision at work in our lives. We pray that we will be guided to used the resources he has blessed us with wisely and for his purposes. Thank you all for your prayers and support.
