April 2018

It’s that time again, another month has gone by. We have done quite a lot this month and are posed to really start ramping up our activities over the next few months. We are still enjoying the church we’ve been attending and are starting to get involved. Tim got to play guitar one Sunday morning and we’ve been attending the Thursday night bible study. We’re hoping to continue making some close connections and friendships there. Tim and Alicia also celebrated their 7th Anniversary with a nice weekend while Grandpa and Grandma watched the kids, thanks!

The kids are getting a more stable routine. The nanny, Haylee, comes half the days and the kids go to preschool the other half. Anthony has acclimated well to preschool and seems to enjoy going. It’s nice that they are getting an opportunity to interact with other kids and make some friends. We hope to continue keeping them in preschool part time. Cordelia really enjoys going and it’s very exciting to see her developing and learning and making friends.

Anthony has been developing more attitude this month. We’re especially working with him on hitting and pushing. We’re also working with him on eating and using his words to tell us what he wants rather than throwing his food on the ground. He seems to eat better when he’s walking around or distracted by something else. When it’s meal time sitting at the table focused on food, it difficult to get him to eat. He also decided to start taking off his clothes and diaper during nap and bed time. So we’ve had to deal with changing wet sheets several times this month. We’re hoping to get him potty trained during the month of May. He had his first dentist appointment this month and did great. Anthony also started a parent-and-me gymnastics class for 30min on Saturday mornings, which has been fun. We’ve been using Saturday mornings to have focused one-on-one parent-child time.

Cordelia is doing a great job at AWANA. She has a great memory and it’s very neat to hear her saying bible verses. Tim has also been working with her on reading and she’s starting to get the idea of how to put sounds and words together. She also gets to practice writing her name and doing various art projects at school. She also does lots of drawing at home and our walls are now filled with her art. We continue to pray and work with her on her emotions and handling difficulties in a graceful manner.

Alicia’s work has been a bit bumpy adjusting from one project to another. She also got an opportunity to take a 3-day training on how to write VHDL code, which is an area she’s been hoping to expand her skills in. Alicia still enjoys working and takes the challenges of each day as they come. At home there has been a lot of things going on and some days Alicia feels like she’s falling behind in keeping up with everything. Alicia is trying to be more intentional about spending time with the kids and being present in the evenings. Pregnancy is still going well and everything seems to be progressing properly.

Tim had another work trip this month for two nights. It was a very productive trip and his team got a lot of good data. While not on work travel his work has been steady but not overloading. While it’s not the most stimulating he’s still getting to learn new things and is valued as a high contributor. At home Tim’s been settling into  a balance between projects and family time. His latest project was making a meat smoker out of a 55 gal drum and a kit. While it took a lot of time and effort, it came together nicely and it ready to start making delicious meat.

We have lots of house projects in the works. This month we disassembled the old master closet wire shelves and clothes racks that were falling over and not fit to hold clothes. Then Tim put on a coat of white paint and we put up some solid shelving and clothes rods. We’re also starting to get our backyard landscaping work in the queue. We’ve been working with a landscape architect to design the new layout. Hopefully next month the overhaul can begin. We also have a new play set coming, which will be much sturdier than the current one.

We have a very full month in May. Visiting with relatives and celebrating Tim’s birthday. We’re happy to be back close to family again so we can get together much more often. We’re also planning on adding a puppy to our family the first weekend of June. We’re very excited for all the changes and an eventful month ahead.
