March 2019

Finally getting some warmer weather this month and less rain. We were able to get outside a lot more this month for a family hike around the neighborhood plus gardening and playing in the backyard. It must be spring! In preparation of hot summer months we  had air conditioning installed. And we finally got a new front door to replace the shattered glass one we had when we moved in. We finished the month with a visit from Mimi, Papa, Uncle Danny, Aunt Rebekah, Sam and Amelia to join in us for Cordelia’s fifth birthday.

Cordelia turned five years old this month! It’s hard to remember five years ago when we welcomed her into our family and started on this crazy journey of parenthood. In five years Corrie has lived in five different houses, had four nannies, and gone to two preshcools. She lives life to the fullest with highs and lows. We gave her a nice party with a bounce house and piรฑata. One of the moms at the party said that her daughter tells her about all the kids at school and her daughter told her that Cordelia is always nice and kind. Corrie got a new bike and bike helmet for her birthday so we’re hoping to do some family rides soon. She also got a lot of crafts, her friends clearly know what she likes!

Anthony has really been enjoying his new class at preschool. Instead of coming home and telling us about the kids who were bad and mean, he tells us about the kids he’s playing with. He also gets to be on the big playground with Corrie in the afternoons. His swimming is improving; he’s getting his face in the water and doing some good kicking. Now his teacher is helping him get bigger arms.

Lydia keeps growing at a rapid pace. We transitioned her to the next schedule with sippy cups during the day and only bottles in the morning and night. She’s now doing more finger foods, like bread and quesadilla, and eggs. She crawls all over the place, no longer contained to the lower half of the downstairs. She continues to be an easy going and happy baby. She does have a slight aversion to men and cries about half the time when she sees a man she does not know. Lydia really loves Valeria and is always wanting to cuddle up with her.

Tim had a busy beginning and end of the month for work. He bookend the month of March with business trips up to Oregon. Overall his project is going very well and has been very successful at producing the desired technology. He continues to excel at his job and is well thought of by his co-workers and boss. Outside of work, Tim got the chance to play guitar again at church, which he had been missing. Around the house, a lot of yard work got done. Tim and the kids planted vegetables in the raised beds and things are sprouting very well. Tim also took lead on getting the last major section of our yard finished by planting the final dymondia area on the other side of our patio. Now the backyard is almost completely finished. Tim also did a little more planting on the side and front of the house.

Alicia is maintaining a steady stream of tasks at her work. She managed to get one of her projects mostly handed off and another one down to more of a maintenance level. So this month she’s been able to focus on her major project and has started to become familiar with the technical aspects. While it’s a slow learning process Alicia is starting to feel more comfortable. There are still a lot of demands but things have not been quite as stressful. At home Alicia has been enjoying the ability to get outside more. Alicia has been trying to focus on family and doing more family activities, like hiking or yard work. Alicia also had the kids join her in washing the van and we all had a fun time.

As we head into April things are likely to stay pretty busy. Somehow we keeps having lots of things to do.  Signups for next school year begin and with Cordelia starting kindergarten in the fall she will be moving to a new school. Tim and Alicia will be celebrating 8 years of marriage.  Two things we always seem to be short on is quite time and sleep. It’s unlikely that those things will increase much over the next few months, but hopefully we can make time for relaxation as well as activity.
