Lots of changes this month. Weather has been warming up but somewhat sporadically, one week warm and then a cold week and then a warm week. Cordelia โgraduatedโ pre-school and starting in the middle of the month Cordelia and Anthony started staying at home full time. We enjoyed a trip to the county fair. We also had some work friends over for a โsummer kick-offโ hang out night.
Valeria has been adjusting to having all three kids every day. Itโs been difficult for her to find people to do play dates with, but she still gets the kids out. She has been taking advantage of the free Tuesdays in Balboa park and taking the kids to different museums. She also takes them to the library. The last weekend of the month, she took an educational trip to Los Angeles as part of the Au Pair program.
Cordelia had her AWANA Cubbies completion ceremony. She continues to improve at reading and writing. She still really enjoys doing art and coloring. Corrieโs swimming continues to improve and she can now swim the short side of the pool by herself at swim class. She started a ballet tap combo class and she has been enjoying that.
Anthony still has a little trouble with bed time but itโs slowly improving. His brain finally made the connection to hold his pee all night. For almost the whole month heโs keep his underpants dry every night. Unfortunately heโs had more difficulty with attitude this month. Weโve been trying to explain to him the importance of respect in his attitudes and words. He is also enjoying swim class and gaining confidence.
Lydia continues to work on word sounds. She also tries to sing one song the older kids listen to a lot. She took her first solo steps this month and the last week of the month sheโs officially moving towards walking! Her top two teeth came in, so now she has four teeth. Sheโs a very good eater and is generally pleasant. She likes being outside which is slightly problematic with all the rocks we have and she is very attracted to the steps.
Alicia had a mellow beginning of the month but things picked back up again quickly. She has two projects both needing her focused attention and sheโs had to put a third task on hold. She had her performance review at work and did very well this past year. At home things have been mostly in maintenance mode. Alicia has enjoyed some one-on-one time with each of the kids. Some times it gets overwhelming with all three kids hollering and demanding attention at the same time.
Timโs work was somewhat stressful at the beginning of the month. A large portion of the team went on travel to test the prototype heโs been working on. Tim did not travel but he was having to support them still. Things got very slow for Tim but he was able to talk to his boss and get some additional work this last week of the month. He also got his performance review and did very well. Tim enjoyed a nice fatherโs day weekend. At home, yard work continues to be an ongoing task. Tim also worked on a laundry room sink and got that completed at the end of the month. Tim has also been enjoying some one-on-one kid time.
Tim and Alicia have been able to have a few couple times this month. The importance of quality time cannot be overstated. Weโre also trying to decide how to best get more involved with our church.
July will include a semi-major house renovation to the front room and downstairs powder room. So thereโs a lot of prep work we are focusing on. Weโre looking forward to 4th of July celebrations with Danny and Rebekah. Additionally Lydia will be turning one year old! Cordelia and Anthony are both having a special week with Grandpa and Grandma for zoo camp and focused time. Weโre also taking a family trip to Big Bear with the Powers Clan. July is posed to be a very exciting and eventful month.
