March 2021

March seemed to finally settle into a more normal routine for us. Aliciaโ€™s morning sickness subsided and she felt much better this month. The kids managed to stay mostly healthy, aside from a lingering cough that Lydia picked up. We remained very busy with work, school, and weekend activities. Mimi and Papa came for Cordeliaโ€™s birthday at the end of the month.

Cordelia turned 7 at the end of the month! We had a small family celebration with lots of cake and fun. In swim class Cordelia is working on her back stroke. Sheโ€™s also doing very well in AWANA and is almost done with her extra credit booklet. At school Cordelia won the speech/poem recitation for her grade! We are very proud of her hard work and accomplishments at school.

Anthony continues to excel in school. Heโ€™s doing basic reading comprehension of short stories. Heโ€™s also working through his second phonics book, which he finished at the end of this month. His swimming is improving and heโ€™s increasing in strength and endurance.

Lydia continues to improve about following directions but she still goes around grabbing things that are not hers. At school sheโ€™s working on counting up to six and putting basic sound combinations together to make words.  She has been doing a lot better at using her words to express herself at school instead of just shrieking her displeasure.

Alicia’s work continued to pick up this month. Sheโ€™s been actively contributing to her project and her administrative duties. Sheโ€™s also been going into the office more often, rather than being completely working from home. AWANA continues to take a lot of work, but she is continually reminded that it is good work for Godโ€™s kingdom. Family time continues to be a challenge with full work days and busy weekends. But with the time change and more daylight in the evenings weโ€™re starting to be able to get outside and enjoy our family time after dinner.

Work has also been very busy for Tim this month. With four active projects and additional background tasks, his work load is very full. One of his projects had a field test event toward the end of the month, so he was gone on work travel for two nights. On the home front, the garden is sprouting with fruits and veggies. We planted a lots of carrots this year and they are coming up, along with some lettuce, tomato, pumpkin, and cilantro. The strawberries and fruit trees are getting their first flowers and starting the fruiting process. Tim made some nice progress on the built-in cabinet for the master bedroom. All the pieces have been cut and the box frame is assembled in place.

Weโ€™ve finalized our decisions about childcare arrangements once the school year finishes. Weโ€™ll be having an Au Pair join our family in June. Weโ€™re excited to have her joining us and we think itโ€™s going to be a great change for our family that will give us better quality family time.

As we head into April we get to start by celebrating the life we have in Jesus because of his death and resurrection. Tim and Alicia will also be celebrating 10 years of marriage! Itโ€™s crazy to think that a decade ago we were making preparations for starting our lives together. We are thankful for all the family and friends who have encouraged and blessed us during our first 10 years together.
