May was filled with family weekends and busy working weeks. We had a visit from Tucson Russins for the first weekend of the month. We had a nice time celebrating Motherโs Day as a family with Grandparent Powers. We also celebrated Timโs 40th birthday with a low key family time. We finished the month with a holiday weekend of friend get-togethers and family outings. We are also making preparations for our new Au Pair to arrive in early June.
Cordelia lost another tooth this month! Her first one on the top. She continues working on her historical figure report and will be making a poster presentation summarizing her work. For the last two weeks of the school year she will be taking standardized tests to finish out the school year. Her school is breaking it up into shorter sessions each morning at school to spread the tests out over the days. Corrie is excited to have completed AWANA for the year and to have earned so many awards. Cordelia switch to a Monday night gymnastics class, same place and same level. Sheโs also doing great in swim class with her free style stroke and improving her side breathing.
Anthony has been struggling a lot more with month with bad behavior and acting out in his class and at home. We have been trying to speak truth into him about how heโs a child of God and can make good choices because Jesus is living in him. Over the past few days his mindset seems to be improving. He seems to be enjoying his new ninja gymnastics class. His swimming has improved this month and heโs getting much stronger arms and can go faster across the pool.
Lydia had a fun time at school this month learning about reptiles. She was very observant and remembered the differences between tortoises and turtles. Sheโs getting more interactive with her siblings and is able to join in with them in games now. Sheโs not afraid of taking risks, which has allowed her to progress well in her swimming too. Since sheโs such a big girl, itโs hard to remember sheโs not even 3 yet!
Alicia had some interesting developments at work this month. She had been considering transitioning into a different role within her department but her director suggested she re-evaluate her career path and put her in touch with a different department. Alicia has always had an interest into going into project engineering for her career and starting in June sheโs going to have the opportunity to try out the role part time while remaining in her same group. With all that going on, sheโs still been able to contribute to her main tasks and also done some side tasks as well. Alicia made it through the final month of AWANA with only the awards ceremony remaining. It was a very rewarding year but certainly had a large amount of challenges and learning pains along the way. Alicia continues to be healthy through this pregnancy and the baby appears to be healthy too.
Tim has had some good success at work this month. For one of his main projects heโs been providing technical guidance to the team and has been praised for his hard work and capabilities. Heโs also taking on a mentoring role for a junior engineer and trying that aspect of work as well. At home heโs been making great progress on the built in cabinet for our bedroom. Only door fronts and the top to go! The garden is also doing well. Tim is trying out doing hydroponics growing as an alternative to large vegetable beds.
In June we will have lots of changes! The kids are just two weeks out from being done with school for the summer. Weโll be welcoming our Au Pair, Maria, into our family. Summer activities will be starting with a zoo camp for Lydia and a lego camp for the older two. With AWANA finishing up for the year, we will also be returning to in-person church services.
Please pray for our family mentally and emotionally. While we have all been physically healthy this month, our emotional and mental health has been struggling.
