Hard to believe itโs the end of July and the end of summer break is just three weeks away! Weโve had lots of fun activities this month. 4th of July celebration with Powers clan, trip to Disneyland, celebrating Lydiaโs 3rd birthday at a water park, and so many activities that have kept our month very active.
Cordelia has been keeping up with her activities this month: piano, gymnastics, and swimming. Cordelia also got to go to a birthday party for one of her classmates. Cordelia enjoyed her week of โcamp grandma.โ
Anthony has been keeping up with his activities too: piano, gymnastics, and swimming. Anthony really enjoyed his time at Disneyland and made the most of all the rides and experiences. Anthony also participated in a half-day sports program introducing him to basketball, baseball, and soccer. He said he enjoyed soccer the most.
Lydia turned 3 this month! We celebrated her birthday at a water park, which was fun for her and the whole family. Her only activity currently is swimming. She seems to enjoy it and is getting better.
Alicia has been keeping up with all her projects at work. She got nominated to take over as test coordinator for one her projects and that has kept her extra busy the second half of the month. Alicia also applied to a Project Engineer (PE) position and interviewed with the team this month. It appears that the PE team is eager to have Alicia join their group. So when Alicia returns from maternity leave she will likely be transitioning into a new position. Alicia continues to be healthy through this pregnancy and the baby appears to be healthy too. Sheโll be 34 weeks at the beginning of August.
Things have been a little slower for Tim at work. He finished a couple of projects and heโs still waiting for the next thing to materialize. Heโs also been interviewing at another company; so there may be some changes on the horizon. On the home front things have been fairly calm; typical lawn mowing, etc. on the weekends. Heโs been working on a long bench in the shop to install his miter saw, and he has a long list of projects to work on when he finishes that one. Heโs also been lifting weights again, so in addition to better habits heโs also extremely sore 😊.
This month has been a challenge for our family. The Au Pair transition has not been as smooth as we anticipated and weโre having reservations about how well things are going for the kids on the home front. Weโve been doing our best to provide support for the Au Pair during the summer and are very appreciative for Aunt Kelly and Grandparents Powers giving of their time to support our family during this time. Weโre praying for wisdom and patience to decide on the right course of action for our family in terms of childcare. With Alicia going out on maternity leave in September there will be some relief and support for the Au Pair through the end of the year and weโre praying for what childcare looks like our family long term.
Weโve been happy for the opportunity to go back to church in person. Weโre praying to keep making good connections with people there. Weโre also praying about our place to serve within the church and balancing that with the soon coming baby addition. Currently no-one has stepped up to serve as Sparks director to take over Aliciaโs responsibilities. Alicia and Tim are praying and evaluating how much weโre able to continue serving the Sparks AWANA program.
