Bumpy with some tough curves is how May has gone. Tim finished his last week at General Atomics and started at ASML. We had a nice visit from Mimi and Papa for Mothersโ Day. We celebrated a late Mothersโ Day with Mom Powers and then Timโs birthday. We finished the month with some friends, enjoying our finally finished backyard. We had a long stretch of colds come through the family that lasted the last half of the month.
Cordeliaโs school has been doing testing the last two weeks of the month. She had a cold earlier in the month but fortunately recovered in time to get back to school before the testing started. Sheโs continuing to improve in her extra curriculars. Sheโs been playing basket ball in the backyard after dinner and is getting pretty good at it on our mini hoop.
Anthony is really enjoying his โBro-teamโ group at school. Alicia is trying to make sure she has contact information for all his friends so they can have playdates over the summer. Heโs got a really fun personality and weโve had some good times with him this month. Heโs gearing up for his kindergarten graduation the first Saturday in June.
Lydia has really had a tough month. She was sick for almost all the month. In the middle of the month she had a five day fever that finally we took her in for a double ear infection. She seemed to be improving after she got some medicine but then her fever came back for two days. Hopefully sheโs over it now. The sickness came with some more temperament but in the midst of all that she was still really sweet with Natalie.
Natalie pulling herself to a stand and thinking about scooting. Sheโs starting to get some temperament and opinionated. Sheโs doesnโt like being left alone, especially in the evenings. She also got the cold this month, her first real cold. She also ended up with a fever and ear infection. Sheโs been having a lot of trouble with eating the past week. She doesnโt seem interested in her bottles and not very much in baby food either. Instead she seems more interested in whatโs on our plates! Sheโs also been cutting her bottom teeth, which has probably added to her poor temperament.
Aliciaโs work is settling into a good routine with some established responsibilities. Aliciaโs boss has been working with her to make sure things are all established for her transition to working from home in June. Sheโs very thankful for the opportunity to keep some time on the work front. On the home front, itโs been a bit of challenge with lots of emotions and dealing with sick kids. But we still did get some fun in, especially on Timโs birthday weekend. Alicia is finishing up this club yearโs responsibilities this coming Sunday with the final awards ceremony event.
Timโs job transition didnโt go very smoothly. When he got to work the first day he discovered that they donโt have any cubicles or offices, just open forum desks. So now he has no personal private space to do his thinking. But the company also has a forced two day work-from-home schedule. So while itโs not an ideal work situation weโre hoping to take advantage of the work from home opportunity. Itโs a little to early to tell how the work will be going but it seems like the work will be interesting. On the home front thereโs been a lot of hard work. Since the concrete work got done Timโs yard work started. He built a pergola with a swing chair in the front yard so we can watch the kids play in the cul-de-sac. He cut the grass down to its lower height for the summer, got the fire pit back together, and dug out the new small flower bed area in the front yard. We celebrated Timโs birthday by a date night dinner and a family dinner at corvette diner.
Next month will be full of transitions. Please pray for us as we figure out what our new normal will look like after Maria leaves. Everything will change on June 10th, kids get out of school, Maria leaves, and our summer will begin.
