May was full of activity, especially focused on house reorganization and renovation preparation. We rearranged the kidsโ rooms in preparation for the bathroom remodel. Anthony moved rooms and got a new loft bed. Cordelia moved into the larger room and is sharing with Lydia until the remodel is complete. The construction team started with the demo the last week of May and hopefully things will start taking shape during June. Aside from house work, we had playdates, a family photo shoot, celebrated mothersโ day, Timโs birthday, and a family visit from Timโs brother Danny and family. Tim and Alicia got an overnight date night.
Cordelia continuing to work as a motherโs helper in the neighborhood and is having a great time with the kids. At school Cordelia is finishing her state report on Maine. She will be graduating from 5th grade at the end of the school year and is preparing to participate in the school end-of-the-year ceremony. At skating Cordelia switched instructors since her teacher went out on maternity leave. Cordelia will be preparing for her first skating test, which sheโll take in August. Cordelia is also practicing for her piano recital in June. Sheโs looking forward to summer break.
Anthony is finishing the school year strong. He finished his spelling book and math book. Heโs working on his state report on Alaska. Anthony is also practicing for his piano recital. In soccer Anthony was able to go to all the games this month. His team is having a lot of fun together and heโs built some good friendships during the league. They finished 4th out of 6teams for the regular season. They have two more games in June for a second mini competition cup. His team has had such a fun time together, they all signed up for the summer league to continue playing together.
Lydia is also working on her state report on Arizona. Itโs been a bit of a transition for her with the room re-adjustments. Lydia continued in gymnastics for this month but will be stopping in June as we prepare for summer. Lydia is still working on her swimming streamlining and efficiency. Sheโs also preparing for the piano recital.
Natalie has learned a lot as school. Sheโs learning to write her own name and is reading short words. She also started in her first phonics book, which is a great achievement. Sheโs had some bumpy days this month and had not been very obedient at school. But sheโs learning to have good obedience and hard work. Sheโs continuing to swim and is working very hard at her breast stroke. At the beginning of June she will finish up with her soccer session. In July she will try out ice skating over the summer like Cordelia. Sheโs been practicing skating during public sessions and is getting confidence with moving on the ice.
Alicia is working hard to keep her projects and tasks at work on-track. Thereโs been a lot more to do and some upcoming deadlines. At home, the room rearrangement and remodel prep has taken priority. It was fun shopping for all the items for the new bathroom. Alicia was treated to a delicious Motherโs Day breakfast in-bed and a new Motherโs Day shirt. The kids are getting lined up with their next session of activities. AWANA is winding up and it was fun to appreciate all the leaders at the appreciation dinner.
Timโs work unfortunately had a big setback on one of the projects that has caused a lot of stress at work. Heโs trying to manage the stress with other projects, but itโs been a tough month. At home with the weather warming up, thereโs been more yard work. Tim worked with Anthony to build Anthonyโs new loft bed. Cordelia made Tim a special carrot cake for his birthday and we got him some special gifts.
In June, school will be finishing up and weโll be switching into summer mode. We will be taking a family trip to Sequoia and trying out our trailer for our first family trip. We also hope that the bathroom remodel will make some good progress during the month.
