June was full of excitement this year. We finished off the last week of school and then dove right into summer. Anthony had his first soccer tournament. Then we had all sorts of fun. Grandma and Grandpa Powers took Cordelia and Anthony on a cruise to Alaska. Mimi and Papa visited with Lydia and Natalie, Aunt Kelly and Uncle James watched Lydia and Natalie while Tim and Alicia went on a belated anniversary trip. We all reunited at the end of the month and celebrated Father’s Day at the fair.
Cordelia finished off the school year strong with all A’s! She had a super fun time in Alaska. Her favorite experiences were: the different country food themes on the cruise ship; sled dogs and ride; and Denali National Park.
Anthony also finished off the school year well. His soccer team learned a lot during their first tournament. Although they finished with two losses and a tie, each game they showed improvement. His team is continuing to train for their next tournament in mid-July. Anthony also had a great time in Alaska. His favorite experiences were: sled dogs and ride; lumberjack show; the magic show on the cruise; and the train rides. He has been practicing his card tricks and sleight of hand.
Lydia finished her school year well. She had a fun time at her zoo keeper and wood working camp. She had a great time with Mimi and Papa playing in the pool and going to the zoo. She had a fun time with Aunt Kelly and Uncle James too. They went to the safari park and Legoland and swam in the pool. Lydia is old enough this year to do the Salvation army camp and she is having a great time there.
Natalie finished her year at Horizon. After a few weeks break she’s back at Legacy for the summer and then Kindergarten in the fall. She had a fun time with Mimi and Papa, playing Velcro ball in the backyard and reading books. With Aunt Kelly and Uncle James, she enjoyed the safari park, Legoland, and the pool. Natalie moved up to Skills 1 in soccer. She’s doing pretty good at the skills moves but is not very focused in the scrimmage yet. Natalie also started piano lessons! She’s having a fun time playing and practicing.
Alicia is transitioning to full time now. She has a few new team members that she’s been charged with training and assigning tasks. It’s been a bit of a challenge since she’s already so busy trying to maintain her workload. But it’s good development and she’s hoping it will turn into a formal supervisor role. Alicia enjoyed the week away with Tim to sleep in and enjoy some quiet time. She liked the hiking at Bryce Canyon around the hoodoos. She also enjoyed the one night stay at the B&B in St George and the calmer days in the mountains of Mt Charleston. It was fun to be reunited with the whole family after more than two weeks on the various vacations.
Tim turned his full focus to his new chief engineer role this month. He’s working on the action items and deliverables. At the end of the month they had a good meeting with the customer. Hopefully he won’t get pulled off again to support other things so he can keep the momentum going. At home Tim worked to get the trailer ready for our last minute over night stay for Anthony’s soccer tournament. He’s been enjoying watching and harvesting the garden he planted. Tim also enjoyed the week vacation with Alicia.
July will be full with more summer camps for the kids. We’re also taking a camping trip in the mountains around San Diego followed by a trip to the Sierras for Lydia’s 8th birthday. With the more flexible summer schedule we’re enjoying more time together in the evenings.
