October 2026

October is turning from the heat of summer to autumn here in San Diego. We started off the month finishing a camping weekend on a very hot weekend. Then the next weekend it was pouring rain. It’s been a bit of both during the month but trending towards cooler weather overall. Lots of busy normal for us this month.

Cordelia’s volleyball team has really turned things around and have been playing great over the past month. It’s great to see the learning and teamwork. Cordelia is also doing well in her classes. She’s starting to build her study skills and putting forward her best efforts to get good grades. Cordelia is continuing to enjoy her clarinet both in school band and private lessons. She’s working on a lot of Christmas songs for upcoming December recitals. Cordelia is also really loving the youth group at our new church and has been building some good relationships with some of the girls. She is enjoying being in Trek from AWANA.

Anthony is doing mostly well in school but sometimes struggling to bring his best effort for tasks that seem tedious or overwhelming. He has some growing friendships in his class. Anthony got the main part in the 5th grade Christmas production and he is super excited about that. Anthony is continuing with his soccer league. They had two weekends in a row of cancellations due to the weather. They’re play has started out slow in the games, but Anthony usually plays a better more focused second half. So far their record is 4 wins, 4 losses, and 1 tie. In piano Anthony is doing well and constantly playing every day in October. He also added a few worship songs to his list and has been learning to enjoy the different style.

Lydia has been enjoying school. Sheโ€™s doing well in most of her subjects but has been struggling with being a good listener and respectful student. In piano she seems to have gotten over one song that was tripping her up. She has now started in the level 2 books! She’s been wanting to do a basketball practice, so we going adjust for her to start that in December.

Natalie is doing great in her reading and other works at school. She has been getting some bad attitude and behaviors, which we are quickly correcting and hopefully will be short lived. Natalie is continuing in her soccer class and is slowly improving in her ball handling and aggressiveness. Natalie is doing amazing in piano and loves to play. She’s about halfway thru her second early learner book and plays almost every day with excitement.

Alicia’s work promotion officially went through! She is now a supervisor and starting in November she’ll start getting her group together and organized. Things aren’t slowing down at work at all but she’s continuing to focus and prioritize tasks. Hopefully delegation will improve with the recent promotion. At home things have been in maintenance mode. Mostly things have gotten done on time but it’s felt very last minute and day to day. AWANA is also keeping things busy staying up with the organization during the week to make each club night successful.

Timโ€™s work seems to be on a downward spiral. Heโ€™s not sure if/when things will turn around for his project. But heโ€™s being faithful to what God has for him day to day. At home he was able to clean out the shop and reorganize things. The cooler weather has made it more pleasant to be outside and do the yard maintenance. Heโ€™s got some peppers growing and it thinking of making some hot sauce with them. Squeezing in time to make AWANA lessons has been a challenge some weeks. Tim also backed up Alicia when she came down with a bad sickness one weekend. He went and did โ€œMystery Guestโ€ for Lydiaโ€™s school class and had a fun time talking about order of operations. Tim also played guitar again one Sunday at our new church.

As we head into the winter months and holidays, things are likely to remain at full activity loads. In the midst of the business weโ€™re still striving to keep a schedule and connection. Thanksgiving break week is likely to be a welcomed respite from the weekly controlled chaos.
